چکیده
Integrating renewable energy through inverter-based generators has decreased the power system’s inertia. Reduced inertia may lead to frequency instability during imbalance disturbances, particularly in an isolated system with limited The Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and a virtual (VI) emulation control have become popular mitigate this issue. Nonetheless, BESS utilization for VI is highly dependent on availability of capacity, which affect cost. Therefore, developing strategy that requires less can recover state charge (SoC) desired level optimize required. This paper proposes SoC recovery coordination generators’ secondary control. Instead relying frequency, such as conventional approach, controlled signal also includes SoC. Hence, contribute lowering required recovering results show proposed method outperforms by requiring around 36% lower ability maintain

Background and Objectives: Virtual inertia control, as a component of a virtual synchronous generator, is used for the implementation of synchronous generator behaviour in microgrids. In microgrids that include high-capacity distributed generation resources, in addition to virtual inertia, virtual damping can also lead to improvement of frequency stability of the microgrid. The purpose of the c...

Doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) based wind turbines with traditional maximum power point tracking (MPPT) control provide no inertia response under system frequency events. Recently, the DFIG wind turbines have been equipped with virtual inertia controller (VIC) for supporting power system frequency stability. However, the conventional VICs with fixed gain have negative effects on inter-ar...

In a DC microgrid (DC-MG), the dc bus voltage is vulnerable to power fluctuation derived from the intermittent distributed energy or local loads variation. In this paper, a virtual inertia control strategy for DC-MG through bidirectional grid-connected converters (BGCs) analogized with virtual synchronous machine (VSM) is proposed to enhance the inertia of the DC-MG, and to restrain the dc bus ...
متن کاملGrid Inertia and Frequency Control in Power Systems with High Penetration of Renewables
With increasing power generation out of renewable energy sources, there is a rising interest to investigate their impact on the power system and its control. In this paper, both the impact on frequency control and the capability to deliver frequency support by renewables is presented. A test grid is used to also investigate the variation of system inertia as a function of time. It is shown that...
